Summer camp at Button Factory Arts is back! We have a great lineup of themed weeks for ages 6-14 to get creative this July and August. Our summer camp has a high focus on visual art, craft, design and making. We make sure to include lots of outdoor activities, games and breaks when needed.

Program Information

New this year- We will be splitting the campers into two groups by age! We have expanded camp to suit ages 6 to 14, and we are taking over both floors of the Button Factory! Registration and themes are the same for both groups, but the weekly topics and art skill development will be approached differently and catered to the different needs of the two groups.

Camp Pricing

Week one (4 days only): $260 / $221 with a family membership

Weeks two to 9 (5 days): $325 / $276.25 with a family membership

(no tax, no service fees, all materials included)

Camp Hours

Drop-off & Pick-up

Camp will run 9:15 to 4:30. 

Drop off times: 8:45 – 9:15 am

Pick up times: 4:30 – 5:15 pm

At this time, only full-day camp is available. On June 1st, any remaining spots will be opened for 1/2 day options. 

Drop-off and pickup is at Button Factory Arts:

25 Regina St. South, Waterloo. 


Parking: is available across the street, beside Paul Puncher in the city lot closest to Erb st.

Drop-off and pickup is downstairs on the first floor at the front door. Please bring ID for pickup. Please let us know if you have any accessibility issues and we will accommodate.

  1. Registration for Summer Camp can be made online, in-person at Button Factory Arts, or by phone at 519-886-4577 when registration opens.

  2. Completing your purchase reserves your camper's spot. 

  3. Please follow the link provided in your Welcome Letter (emailed at time of registration) to fill in the mandatory registration form for your camper(s).

summer camp week themes

July 2-5: Maker Magic

A week of art, crafts, and science combined! Inspired by the great artists and makers throughout time.

This week we’ll create projects that are inspired by inventors, art enthusiastic scientists, and creative makers such as Beatrix Potter, Maria Sibylla Merian, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and Da Vinci. We’ll explore the themes and mediums that these artists worked in such as watercolour, pencil, charcoal, acrylic, and more!

July 22-26: Line, Shape, & Colour

Great for young artists who are just starting their creative journey or experienced young artists looking to expand their skills!

Beginner artists will learn foundational skills, and helpful tips & tricks. More experienced artists can expect to learn more about the art mediums that they love.

 

This week we’ll learn about all the incredible and fun ways to use Line, Shape, and Colour to make art! Our projects will explore mediums such as water colour, collage, painting, and sculpture!

Aug 12-16: Adventures in Art

A week of camp inspired by Art Attack! We’ll do wacky crafts, fun sculptures, and explore unconventional art making materials!

Spend the week with us exploring wacky ways of making art! Using materials in new ways, learning more about your favourite mediums, and having a blast making fun projects!

July 8-12: The Great Art Escape

Spend each day exploring a new medium and new style of art! Featuring mixed-media projects and choose-your-own-art-adventure activities.

This week we’ll spend each day exploring a new medium with activities  inspired by famous artists. Mediums we’ll be exploring include clay sculpting, acrylic painting, mixed media drawing, pastel drawing, printmaking and more!

July 29-Aug 2: Magical & Mystical

A week full of magic and whimsy!

Curiouser, and curiouser.. Explore art through magical creatures, mystical scenes, and imaginary worlds.

Aug 19-23: Print-a-pa-looza & the Magic of Zine Making

Spend a week exploring the many forms of printmaking! Plus, we’ll explore fun projects such as comic book creating, illustration, and mini-magazine (Zine) making!

During this week of camp we’ll learn various types of printmaking including lino block, silk screening, cyanotype, and more! Plus fun activities including book making, comic book drawing, and making mini magazines!

July 15-19: 3D Discoveries

A week of camp focused on 3D crafting, construction, and sculpting!

This week we’ll explore all the ways of making 3D art! Try out clay sculpting, cardboard construction, 3D painting, mask making, and more!

Aug 5-9: 3D The Latest and Greatest

Inspired by the great artists throughout history and more recent artists that we’ve come to love!

During this week of camp we’ll learn about famous artists throughout time, some old and some who lived and worked more recently. Artists that will inspire are projects include Maud Lewis, Kazuo Nakamura, Rita Letendre, the Group of Seven, and many more!

Aug 26-31: Unexpected Artforms

There are so many ways to create art! Why not try something new!

During this week of camp we’ll explore ways of making art that aren’t as well known. Try out art making techniques such as fibre arts, mask making, folk art, puppets, murals, mosaics, and more!

what to bring

Lunch + Snacks
  • Students are required to bring their own lunch, snacks and water bottle.

  • There will be one snack break in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Allergens
  • Button Factory Arts is a nut-free and shellfish-free facility. 

Clothing & Sunscreen
  • Students are required to come in the morning with sunscreen applied as we will be going to the park.

  • Please send spray sunscreen with your child so camp staff can access it if needed. Staff will not apply sunscreen that requires physical contact.

  • Art can be messy! Please ensure campers wear clothing they can get messy in.

  • Camp activities or breaks may include going outside (weather-dependent). Please ensure campers have weather-appropriate clothing.
