Summer Camp Leader

Position Summary 

Passionate about working with kids in the arts? Work with us this summer in delivering fun and creative art lessons to youth aged 4 - 14! Help create a safe and fun environment for kids to express their creativity and build their art skills! 

Expected start and end date: June 20th - August 29th (Training days June 27th and 28th)

Job type: Contract, Full time

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 to 5:30 for a max of 44 hours per week with a 30 minute paid lunch

Total of 8 hours/day

Wage: $19

Duties

  • Deliver camp lessons, classes and engaging activities and games 

  • Prepare art materials, organize and cleanup 

  • Supervision of campers during all indoor and outdoor activities 

  •  Attending staff meetings and ensuring ongoing communication with the Camp Supervisor

  • Must be able to lift and carry materials, do stairs, and lead walks to the park.

  • Assist with any camp emergency procedures, providing first aid as required

  • Follow camp schedules, while adapting changes as necessary to best accommodate the needs and abilities of campers

 

Recommended Experience and Skills 

  • Previous experience working with children aged 4 - 14 in an arts-related setting 

  • Enjoys working with children 

  • Skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, fibre art or other art disciplines

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to plan and deliver lessons and work with other staff 

  • Patience and sensitivity for children in high-energy environments

  • Ability to be an effective leader

  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new environments 

  • Work well as part of a team 

 

Requirements​

  • Vulnerable sector check by July 1, 2025 and completed after August 31, 2023

  • Some positions will be funded by Canada Summer Jobs. These placements will only be open to applicants between the ages of 15 and 30.

  • Previous experience working with children

  • First aid training an asset
