We're closed

We have continued our communications with our landlord, the City of Waterloo, as well as with our funders. Here is what we know at this point:

  • Construction has not yet begun and will not start until after Labour Day.

  • The construction period is scheduled to last approximately two months.

  • When we reopen, all visual arts programming will be relocated to the second floor.

  • A new, dedicated space for performing arts will be created on the first floor.

  • The structural pillars on the first floor will remain, with at least two situated within the main performance area.

  • Access to the space for activities not directly or indirectly related to the fine arts will be significantly reduced, as the performance space ammenities is being funded through arts-specific grants.

  • Rental availability will be shaped by our own programming needs and will primarily be limited to weekday daytime hours (outside of school holidays) and weekends.

  • Rentals will move from an hourly model to longer blocks (e.g., four hours or more).

  • Occupancy capacity for rental events will be lower. The final number is TBA.

We understand that these changes may exclude some of our previous renters, and we recognize the impact this may have. However, our goal is to maintain a viable and sustainable performing arts space that complies with building code limitations while prioritizing the needs of performing artists and arts organizations. This focus aligns with our mission and is essential to maintaining our funding and partnership with the City of Waterloo.
