Katharine Bourgon

She/Her

Sewing Instructor & Fibre Artist

In her various careers, sewing has always been part of Katharine Bourgon’s life. As an office worker she sewed her own clothes and loved pouring over Vogue patterns to be in style without paying designer prices. As a professional dancer and teacher, Katharine sewed her own dancewear and all of the costumes for her dance studio’s students to save exorbitant ordering and shipping costs. And during the COVID lockdowns she kept busy sewing medical gowns and face masks. It is only fitting that she is now following in her mother’s footsteps by teaching sewing. Katharine teaches a variety of classes at Button Factory Arts including Machine Sewing for Beginners, Understanding Sewing Patterns, and Buttonholes & Zippers along with numerous workshops. Katharine is also working on a line of silk tote bags, hand-embellished with embroidery and beads under her Third Act Creations label.
