LEGENDS of the animal kingdom

Monday
Birds come in marvelous colours all over the world each with their own different personality. We will look at the Borneo rainforest, home to many beautiful birds and create a pillowcase using a popular Indonesian style of art, Batik that uses wax and dyes. We will also study the importance of movement in art by creating their very own flipbook.



Tuesday
Students will get to transform themselves to their favorite animals by making a quality animal mask using a variety of mixed mediums such as a variety of fabric like faux fur and swimsuit materials. Student will get a chance to play in their masks and weather permitting children will also get to go outside to create earth art and play a variety of games.

Land

Wednesday
Close to human beings these creatures have a lot of qualities and habits just like ours. Students will get their hands dirty and experiment with clay to create an ancient offering bowl and release their inner beast by jamming with an instrument they create from recycled materials.

 



Thursday
We will travel to the deep waters and learn about creatures that live in some of the harshest habitats and also some of the most mysterious places on the planet. Students will get the chance to create an elaborate puppet and work together on a play and performance.


Friday
Children will get the chance to create their own self contained micro rainforest for observation by making their very own terrarium to take home. Children will plant different tropical plants and create a scene using their favorite creatures, terrariums require little-no care once established . Children will also get to learn a simple way to silkscreen at home.

For Ages 5 to 12.

Come explore animals big and small from
across the globe and discover the important
role they play in the web of life. Legends passed
on from generation to generation will be told
inspiring different forms of art throughout the
week. Music, folklore and games from
different cultures will be incorporated.

A variety of mediums such as acrylic, charcoal,
fabric and recycled materials will be used to
challenge and expose students to different
art forms.


One week: $170 members/$180 non-members
Per day: $35 members/$40 non-members.


Pre-arranged before and after care available
8:00-8:30am and 4:30-5:00pm
$2.50/half hour.
Bring nut-free lunches and snacks.
