The Waterloo Community Mosaic is an interactive online application that is made up of hundreds of photographs illustrating the history of the City of Waterloo.

When you click on the blue button to the left you will be taken to a page
with a
"Select file" button, click this and a dialogue box
will open. Choose an image file from your computer (jpeg only). The jpeg you upload will be used as reference to form the master image, essentially the application is using the hundreds of Waterloo photos as a "palette" to "paint" the image that you have provided. Viewing the mosaic requires the Flash Player.
FAQ
Q: Can I save the mosaic I've created?
A: Yes, there is a "Save your mosaic" button on the control bar to the left of your mosaic. It will save as a jpeg.
Q: Can other people see what I've uploaded?
A: No, only you can see or save your image.
Q: Is it possible to email the link of my mosaic for others to see?
A: No, if you email the link all they will see is the "Select file" page.
If you want to show others your mosaic it is best to save it then
email the file.
Q: How do I donate photos to the mosaic?
A: We are always looking for more photos to add. Email your photos to
: wcac.communications@gmail.com.*
If you have photos online somewhere simply email us the link so that the
mosaic can link back to the original.
Q: Do the photos need to be high resolution?
A: No.
Q: What if my photos are still hardcopy? (Polaroids, etc)
A: If you have hardcopy photos you can still contribute by taking them to the Main Branch of the Waterloo Public Library to be scanned. To make arrangements, please contact Janet at jseally@wpl.ca or 519.886.1310 ext.126.
