Ever wanted to make your own clothing? Use a sewing machine?
Do you love to look through boxes of fabric? Then this is the course
for you. Feel free to create anything as you learn the basics of sewing
and how to improvise designs in this open format class. In the last class,
students will show off their creations on the runway at our fashion show
for friends and family.

ADVENTURES IN MIXED MEDIA (VA-12-06)

Let’s explore two-dimensional and three-dimensional art forms from soft

MIX IT UP! (VA-12-07)

We will be using all different forms of media to create unique artworks.

SPOKEN WORD, POETRY AND RAP CLASS (VA-12-11)

Following positive examples, we will be learning how to write, perform
and improvise (freestyle) verse that focuses on making a point. Expand
your vocabulary, increase your confidence and public speaking skills
while making rhymes. Students will have a chance to record a vocal
piece either with music or acapella, and keep the CD.

CREATIVE JOURNALLING (VA-12-12)

Learn how to keep an artistic record of yourself. We will use mixed

BEGINNER LEGO ANIMATION

Calling all film-makers in training! Once a week, the Button Factory will
become the Lego® factory. Children will have the opportunity to imagine,
build and film their Lego® world using stop-motion animation. This is a
hands-on class allowing children to create storyboards, build with Lego®
and then to use video cameras, Mac computers and the iStopMotion program.

NEW ADVANCED LEGO ANIMATION (VA-12-41)

Building on a basic foundation of technique and experience established either through enrolment in a previous Lego Animation course or from self-learning, this more advanced class in Lego animation takes students beyond the traditional template of Lego animation.

Students will explore abstract styles of animation, techniques appropriate to higher frame-rates, incorporation of alternative subjects such as clay and even apply audio and visual effects to their animations. As in the basic Lego Animation course, these skills will be reinforced and applied through a group final animation project.

PRINTMAKING FOR KIDS (VA-12-18)

In this course, participants will explore and learn techniques of different types of printmaking while using a professional Tackach press. The main focus of the class will be drypoint, but we will also explore other printmaking styles such as monoprint and collagraph.

IMPROV COMEDY FOR TEENS (VA-12-32)

Learn improv comedy! Over the course of eight weeks, parcicipants will work together to develop skills and abilities to perform all sorts of humourous, theatrical, improvised scenes, stories and games. Whether you're just beginning, or well experienced, practicing improv is sure to be creative, fun and provide plenty of laughs.
